Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that the game between Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United this weekend will end in a draw.

The Seagulls will take on The Magpies at the American Express Community Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Former Newcastle striker Owen believes that the match will end in a draw.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton looks on during a Pre Season Friendly between Brighton & Hove Albion and Atletico Madrid at Amex Stadium on August 6, 2017 in Brighton, England.

“Both sides were playing Championship football last season and it will be fascinating to see how the two clubs deal with their respective battles for survival at the foot of the PL table,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Newcastle boast the more obvious chance of staying up but Brighton are respected on home soil and as such I can see both sides cancelling each other out at The Amex.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation; Brighton and Newcastle to Draw at 23/10.”

Brighton won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The Seagulls are 16th in the league table at the moment with just four points from five matches.

Chris Hughton’s side are level on points with 18th-place Everton and are one of the favourites to get relegated from the English top flight at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with nine points from 10 matches.

Rafael Benitez’s side are in good form at the moment, but one should not be surprised if the Seagulls hold the Magpies to a draw.
