Birmingham City and Newcastle United will face each other in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Newcastle United will win against Birmingham City this weekend.

The Magpies will take on Championship rivals Birmingham away from home at St. Andrew’s Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Former Newcastle striker Owen has backed Rafael Benitez’s side to win the tie and progress to the fourth round of the prestigious cup competition.

“The Magpies amazingly haven’t won an FA Cup tie for five years and promotion remains the sole objective for the club this season,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Gianfranco Zola has pulled up few trees in his short time at St Andrew’s, and I think my old club can finally make it through to the 4th Round and at the first attempt.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Newcastle to win at 10/11.”

Newcastle have a better squad than Birmingham do and will fancy their chances at St. Andrew’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Much will depend on the starting lineup that manager Benitez decides to deploy against the Blues.

Playing at home will give Birmingham an advantage, and Gianfranco Zola’s side will be aiming to go as far as possible in the FA Cup this season.

Newcastle have been knocked out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage in each of the last four seasons and have scored just one goal in their last five FA Cup matches, according to BBC Sport.
