Yoshinori Muto scored for Newcastle United against Manchester United in the Premier League before the international break.

Michael Owen has written on Betvictor.com that he was impressed with the performance of Yoshinori Muto for Newcastle United against Manchester United.

Muto featured for Newcastle in their Premier League game against United away from home at Old Trafford before the international break.

The 26-year-old forward scored for the Magpies in the 10th minute of the match and had a generally good game.

Former Newcastle and United striker Owen has praised the Japan international and wants to see more of the forward.

Owen wrote on Betvictor.com: “I was particularly impressed with Yoshinori Muto against Manchester United and am looking forward to seeing more of the Japanese striker. I appreciate it is early days, but it was a very favourable first impression.”

Muto joined Newcastle from German club Mainz in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £9.5 million.

The Japan international forward has made one start and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies so far this season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.

Rafael Benitez’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with just two points from eight matches and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
