The 26-year-old forward scored for the Magpies in the 10th minute of the match and had a generally good game.
Former Newcastle and United striker Owen has praised the Japan international and wants to see more of the forward.
Owen wrote on Betvictor.com: “I was particularly impressed with Yoshinori Muto against Manchester United and am looking forward to seeing more of the Japanese striker. I appreciate it is early days, but it was a very favourable first impression.”
