Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen looks ahead to Wednesday’s Premier League clash between Chelsea and Everton.

Michael Owen has written in his Betvictor.com column that he expects Chelsea to win against Everton at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho’s side will host the Toffees at Stamford Bridge and will be expected by many to pick up the three points.

Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen backs Chelsea to overcome the Merseyside outfit.

“The hosts must again do without the suspended Diego Costa and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will be keen to do well against his former club,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

“I don’t expect to see any fireworks but a thoroughly professional display from the league leaders.”

Can Everton upset Chelsea?

Owen’s prediction will be backed by many Premier League followers, especially as the game is at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have picked up no fewer than 31 points from 11 league games at home so far this season, while Everton have collected only 12 from as many league matches away.

Chelsea are also in great form, having defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Everton do have a good team and there have been signs of improvements in recent weeks, but anything other than a Chelsea win on Wednesday will come as a surprise.
