Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been linked with Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has told Squawka.com that Real Madrid would not find it easy to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
According to a recent report in The Express, Spanish giants Madrid are interested in signing Alli from Spurs.
In the past, the 11-time European champions have recruited the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from the North London outfit.
Former Madrid striker Owen believes that it will not be easy for Madrid to tempt the England international midfielder at the end of the season.
The former Newcastle United man has also suggested that Tottenham are not a selling club anymore, but he has claimed that Alli is good enough to play for Madrid.
“Teams like Real Madrid only come calling for one player every so often, Gareth Bale was the last big one to go and they’ve got to be exceptional because to improve that squad is not easy,” Owen told Squawka.com.
“But Dele Alli is certainly a player that you could see having the ability to play for a club like Real Madrid. Whether he wants to test himself abroad is another matter and whether Spurs would let him go is another.
“I think Spurs used to be a selling club, they let Bale go, Berbatov, Keane, Modric, Carrick all got pinched off them, there was loads of players leaving at the time, but they are a different animal now.
“They’ve got their eyes fixed on winning the Premier League now and to do that you’ve got to keep your best players, so it would be a fight for anyone to get their players now.”
Alli is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and is arguably the best young player in England at the moment.
The 20-year-old is playing well for Spurs at the moment, and he does have a very bright future.
If Madrid came calling at the end of the season, then it would be hard to turn them down, but perhaps Alli should.
The youngster is playing regularly at Tottenham and is well loved by the White Hart Lane faithful.
