Michael Owen described Luis Sinisterra’s goal during Leeds United’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night at Elland Road as ‘beautiful’.

After going a goal behind to their relegation rivals, Javi Gracia’s men pegged back Forest pretty quickly through Jack Harrison – the Englishman was called ’superman’ by his teammates.

Before both teams could head into the break, Luis Sinisterra worked his magic and put his team into the lead – and it remained that way.

After receiving the ball on the left flank, the 23-year-old jinked one way and another, but after being obliged to cut onto his right foot, he made sure to punish his opponents by finding the back of the net with pure precision.

That was the £65k-a-week star’s (Spotrac) third Premier League goal of the season and he will be hoping there is plenty more to come before the season is out because it will keep his team in England’s top flight.

Whilst Steve Cooper will be frustrated at how his team defended that goal, Owen just used one word to describe Sinisterra’s finish, as he told Premier League Productions (04/04/23 at 10:40 pm).

“Then Sinisterra cuts in from the right-hand side,” said Owen. “I thought this was possibly poor defending.

“But I am taking nothing away from the goalscorer. It’s a beautiful finish. Letting him cut inside onto his strong foot to curl it into the far corner.”

LEEDS MARCHING ON?

That win, just like the three points at Wolves before the International break, was huge for Leeds in their quest to survive.

That has pushed them into 13th place in the Premier League table, but there is still a very long way to go.

Even though 18th-placed Bournemouth were beaten by Brighton on Tuesday, there are only two points separating Gary O’Neill’s men and those from Yorkshire.
