Michael Owen has backed Liverpool winger Luis Diaz to be ‘one to watch’ for the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The former striker, at the start of this season, had picked Luis Diaz to be ‘one to watch’ in the Premier League, but as Owen mentioned, ‘he got injured’ and he wasn’t able to showcase his talents, as he told The Final Word on PL Productions (22/05/23 at 11:25 pm).

The 26-year-old was only able to play 963 minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool this term, with a knee injury wrecking his first full season in England’s top flight.

After that introduction during the 2022 January transfer window, which saw the all-action winger lift both domestic trophies, many things were expected of the player.

That’s why Owen, before a ball was kicked, put forward his name as ‘one to watch’.

Well, that never came to fruition, although, the former Liverpool man isn’t shying away from possibly putting his name in again for the 2023/24 season.

“Ones to watch, he got injured,” said Owen. “I still think he is an exceptional talent. Again, if you ask me to do it again next season, then he might get into my thoughts.”

LUIS DIAZ WILL COOK FOR LIVERPOOL NEXT SEASON

From Sadio Mane to Diogo Jota, many Liverpool forwards, who have played under Jurgen Klopp’s system, have always scored a high volume of goals.

If Diaz can put forward a full season, then there is no reason why he can’t hit double figures in the Premier League.

A player of immense talent and ball-carrying ability, he has some of that Luis Suarez bite about him, which will stand him in good stead.
