Alexis Sanchez is one of Arsenal’s best players.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen suggested on the UEFA Champions League Highlights show on BT Sport 2 on Wednesday night (broadcast from 10:15pm, September 28, 2016) that Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez should not be played as a striker.
Sanchez is one of the best players at Arsenal and has been in good form so far this season, scoring four goals and creating 10 chances in six Premier League matches.
The Chile international, who can play as a forward or as a winger, featured in the Gunners’ Champions League game against FC Basel on Wednesday evening.

The 27-year-old former Barcelona star started the Group A game at the Emirates Stadium in North London and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Sanchez played upfront as a striker and did quite well, setting up both goals for Theo Walcott in a 2-0 victory.
Former Liverpool and United striker Owen said after the match that he likes the Chilean upfront, but he believes that Sanchez is not the answer if Arsenal are to win the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

“I like him, I like him upfront,” said Owen about Sanchez on the UEFA Champions League Highlights show on BT Sport 2 on Wednesday night (broadcast from 10:15pm, September 28, 2016).
“I think he is a better option than Walcott, a bit more intelligent I think in his runs, but I think if Arsenal want to win the Champions League or want to win the league, I don’t think he is the answer. I think he is better off the left. He scores loads of goals coming from a different position.”
Sanchez is a very good footballer, but he is not an out-and-out striker. For the Chilean to be at his best, he should not be given responsibility to score goals, which he will be expected to if he is deployed as a ‘striker’ on a regular basis.
