Michael Owen has told Premier League Productions on Saturday afternoon that Liverpool cannot hang their hat on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The TV pundit claimed that the ‘brilliant’ and ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool duo ‘aren’t natural finishers’.
On Saturday, Liverpool dropped yet more points on home soil when Newcastle snatched a late equaliser at Anfield – at the second time of asking!
It was another game where Liverpool missed countless chances, as Owen shared his thoughts on two of the front four that started.
“Mane, brilliant player and scores lots of goals,” said Owen. “Salah, unbelievable player as well, scores lots of goals.
“But they aren’t natural finishers. They aren’t someone who you can hang your hat on.
“They have scored goals consistently because Liverpool, like today, have created so many chances.
“But the team have been found wanting with the missed chances.”
Whilst Mane has had his struggles this season, the same cannot be said for his partner in crime on the right flank.
Salah is currently the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season and he is hunting down the currently injured Harry Kane.
Whether it’s midfield issues, constant injuries at the back, fullbacks out of form, Alisson Becker making errors, it seemingly hasn’t fazed Salah, who has remained consistent throughout.
