Michael Owen told Premier League Productions (21/02/21 at 5:35 pm) that Riyad Mahrez was playing against Arsenal on Sunday like he was ‘having a party’.
The left-footed trickster, who started Man City’s 1-0 win against Arsenal yesterday, was causing a number of problems out on the right against the Gunners, especially during the early stages.
It was Mahrez’s cross after two minutes that found the 5ft 7 Raheem Sterling, who headed home the only goal of the game.
Mahrez turned 30 on the day of Man City’s win and former Liverpool hitman Owen thinks he was playing like it was his birthday.
“They are opening up Arsenal all the time,” said Owen. “I think Mahrez has given them plenty of problems out on the right-wing.
“I think it’s his 30th Birthday and it looks like he is having a bit of a party out there.”

It just goes to show the talent and depth of quality Pep Guardiola has on his hands that he can have a £60 million winger (BBC Sport) in Mahrez coming in and out of the side.
Man City’s rising star Phil Foden has been ripping it up recently yet Guardiola was able to rest him at the Emirates and not even bring him on.
It’s no wonder that the runaway Premier League leaders have won 18 games on the bounce in all competitions and are on course to win the title by some distance if they continue in their current path.
