Tottenham Hotspur will face Newport County in the FA Cup this weekend.

Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Erik Lamela will score for Tottenham Hotspur against Newport County this weekend.

Premier League club Tottenham will take on League Two outfit Newport away from home at Rodney Parade in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen believes that Lamela will be desperate to impress Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and has backed the Argentina international to score for the North London outfit.

Owen wrote on Betvictor.com: “Spurs scored four in the two previous occasions they played Newport in the FA Cup and the Exiles are looking for their first win against top-flight opposition since January 1964 when they beat Sheffield Wednesday.

“Spurs are likely to make changes given they entertain Manchester United back in the Premier League on Wednesday and it would not surprise me if Eric Lamela gets a rare start.

“He will be desperate to impress Mauricio Pochettino and might be the difference between the sides.”

A footnote added: “Tip: Eric Lamela to score at anytime at 17/10.”

Lamela, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is now fully fit and is back in action.

The 25-year-old has played a total of 273 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, and manager Pochettino could decide to include the former River Plate star in the the Tottenham starting lineup against Newport.

The Argentina international has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Italian club AS Roma for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £25.8 million when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge of the North London club.
