Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Betvictor.com that Tottenham Hotspur will win against Fulham this weekend.

Premier League club Tottenham will take on Championship outfit Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Owen has backed Spurs to win the tie and progress to the next round of the prestigious cup competition.

“This looks a cracking London derby with Spurs looking to exorcise those Anfield demons after a horror show against the Reds last weekend,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Fulham beat Spurs 4-0 the last time the sides met in the Cup back in 2011 but I expect the Premier League side to progress but not without a few scares along the way.”

A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Spurs to win and both teams to score at 23/10.”

Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino, though, believes that Fulham will win the tie against Tottenham.

“Fulham’s style is easy on the eye but very effective as well,” Cascarino wrote in The Times. “They don’t overplay. Mauricio Pochettino will leave out many of his top Tottenham players after their Europa League game yesterday.”

A footnote added: “Winners: Fulham.”

Fulham will head into the match against Tottenham on the back of a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at home in the Championship.

The London club are going strong in the league and will be determined to take that form into the FA Cup.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are currently eighth in the standings with 49 points from 31 matches, nine points off the playoffs with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Tottenham find themselves third in the Premier League table at the moment with 50 points from 25 matches.

The North London outfit are 10 points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea and are very much in the running for the top four.
