Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has told The Daily Star that Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is a top player.

The former Newcastle United midfielder has also stated that if Son, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, become available, then a lot of clubs in Europe will be interested in signing him.

O’Neill made the comments ahead of Northern Ireland’s friendly international against South Korea on Saturday afternoon.

“Son’s a top player, he’s a top Premier League player,” O’Neill told The Daily Star. “I’d imagine if he became available you’d have a lot of clubs around Europe that would be very keen to have him in their squad.”

Quality footballer

Son is one of the best players in the current Tottenham team and has been in brilliant form for the North London outfit this season.

The 25-year-old South Korea international has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 22 Premier League starts for Spurs so far this campaign.

While Harry Kane remains the main source of goals for the North London outfit, Son has stepped up and has chipped in with important strikes.

Future

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham are ready to offer Son a new contract, with the South Korea international reportedly on £60,000 per week at the moment.

Given how the 25-year-old has progressed and developed at Spurs, it would make sense for the Premier League club to hand him a new deal.
