Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is still putting his backroom team together at Ibrox.
Barry Ferguson
Michael Mols has suggested that Barry Ferguson would be an excellent addition to Pedro Caixinha’s backroom team at Rangers, but jokingly added that they may have one problem however, the Evening Times reports.
Caixinha is still putting his backroom team together at Ibrox, and has suggested since being given the role that he wants to include someone in that team who knows what Rangers and the Scottish Premiership is all about (via BBC Sport).
And Mols has suggested that his former captain Ferguson may be the perfect person to come in and take on the role, even if the two may struggle to engage in conversation.
“You always bring people from your home but it is also important to get someone involved who knows the club, who knows the culture and how things work in Scotland, particularly at a club like Rangers,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
New Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
“I think it is a good idea. Louis van Gaal did the same at Man Utd. He brought in some of his own people but also worked with Ryan Giggs.
“I think he is a candidate who knows the club, who loves the club and who has his badges. From that point of view, he has the right criteria. I think there is one problem maybe, I don’t know if the manager would understand him!”

Without looking back to a previous regime, Ferguson is perhaps one of the standout candidates for a potential job, as, like Mols suggests, he not only boasts coaching experience, but understands the demands and expectations at Ibrox extremely well.
He won 15 major trophies across two spells with the club – including five top flight titles – and helped the side really make an impact in the Champions League on a number of occasions, including in the 2005/06 season when they reached the last 16.
