Leeds United are currently on the hunt for a new manager after the club not agree an extension to Garry Monk’s one-year stay at Elland Road. Former Middlesbrough gaffer Aitor Karanka has been linked with the role and is the overwhelming favourite, particularly after the appointment of his former Boro colleague Victor Orta as director of football recently.
But other names have also been mentioned, including former Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup.

Odds on the Dane being appointed the role have been dropping consistently and Leeds fans would not be disappointed in his appointment.
Now he has been asked about the rumours. Responding to a request from Danish paper Ekstra Bladet the 52-year-old, who is currently managing Qatari side Al Rayyan, had this to say on the Leeds United links:

“The season is over in various leagues, and therefore there is now plenty of (loose) rumors for both players and coaches.
“I have one more year contract in Al Rayyan, and I will continue to thrive, and I will complete it.”

So it seems the 104-cap Danish icon is writing off the links as hear-say just as much as anyone else. He has a year left on a lucrative contract in Qatar and Leeds do seem to be on the verge of appointing Karanka.
So the arrival of this legendary football figure certainly looks to be an unlikely proposition.
