Michael Laudrup worked with Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies at Swansea City.
Davies has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Swansea City.
The 26-year-old left-back has established himself as an important player for Spurs and has played a big role in the North London club’s success in recent years.
Laudrup managed Davies at Swansea, and he has spoken highly of the Wales international left-back.
Laudrup told BBC Sport about Davies: “I think Ben has done very well and I think Tottenham think the same way, otherwise he wouldn’t have been there so long.
“You can never predict how far a talent can go because, apart from the talent, you need other things. Some of these things have to come from the player but it also depends on what manager or managers the player gets. Here Ben has been lucky!”
According to WhoScored, Davies made 20 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League and played in nine matches in the Champions League for Spurs this season.
Arsene Wenger’s warning
Meanwhile, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a warning for Tottenham Hotspur following their defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League final at the weekend.
Spurs lost 2-0 to Premier League rivals Liverpool in the final of Europe’s premier club competition at Madrid on Saturday evening.
Wenger has suggested that it will be tough for Tottenham to reach the final of the Champions League again next season.
The Metro quotes Wenger as saying: “Liverpool has won this trophy six times and Tottenham this season made a miracle to get there. So when you are in their position and think you should have won this game and to come back here is a mountain to climb.
“That makes the pain even worse because you feel it is a unique achievement to get there. ‘But to come back but next season you will have Real Madrid and Barcelona and Bayern and to come back again will be very difficult.”
