Michael Kim is getting ready for another year on the PGA Tour, though this one has been slow to get going.
The season will begin with the Sony Open later this month, after The Sentry was cancelled. Once things do get underway, the action is expected to come thick and fast.
This year also comes with a new rule change, with the PGA Tour aiming to address one specific area ahead of the season opener.
There’s a new preferred lies modification in place that shortens the relief area for placing a ball from a club-length to just the length of a scorecard.
Michael Kim supports PGA Tour’s new preferred lies rule

Kim, whose lone PGA Tour victory came at the 2018 John Deere Classic, has given his support to the adjustment.
The rule is intended to ensure more consistent results. If a player accidentally places the ball outside of the scorecard length, they can correct it without penalty.
Michael Kim gives nod to Akshay Bhatia after LIV Golf snub
Kim has remained active on social media, and recently weighed in on another story that’s been getting attention.
He responded to news that fellow American golfer Akshay Bhatia turned down a big-money offer from LIV Golf.
“It’s very cool seeing younger guys say no to the upfront money to chase more career goals,” Kim posted on X.
Bhatia has two PGA Tour wins under his belt, taking the 2023 Barracuda Championship and the 2024 Valero Texas Open.
LIV Golf will still be adding new faces next year, though, with Thomas Detry and Elvis Smylie both set to join the tour for the 2026 season.
