Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has earned a great deal of first-team opportunities this season.
Calvert-Lewin is regarded as one of the Toffees’ brightest prospects, and he showcased his talent with an excellent performance for England’s under-21 side yesterday.
The forward scored the Three Lions’ opening goal as they beat Ukraine 2-1 at Bramall Lane.
And Keane has been very impressed by the improvements that Calvert-Lewin has made in training.
The £30 million signing from Burnley said: “Dom has really come on this season.
“He is a great lad who works really hard. He is always doing extra and you can see he wants to improve.
“He is really reliable when he plays and always works so hard for the team. He has a few attributes some of the other lads do not possess, so he brings a lot to the team and has been a big player for us this season.
“He is definitely getting tougher to face in training. He is not shy of a challenge or putting his body in and he will try to knock you over. And he has probably learned to use his body a bit more from playing games.”
Calvert-Lewin has been picked regularly by Everton this campaign, and shown flashes of quality.
The forward still needs to work on scoring more regularly, but he has certainly proven that he can have a part to play at Goodison Park in the future.
Calvert-Lewin could feature again for Everton this weekend, when Sam Allardyce’s side take on champions in waiting Manchester City on Saturday.
