Michael Jordan has appeared more often on Fox Sports’ NASCAR coverage this year than he has on NBC Sports’ NBA programming.

Despite being promoted as a special contributor for NBC’s NBA broadcasts, Jordan’s role has so far been limited to a handful of pre-recorded segments.

Meanwhile, he’s had a much more visible presence at recent NASCAR events. The contrast has been noted as his racing team continues to make headlines on the track.

Fox NASCAR appearances surpass NBC NBA segments

Jordan’s involvement with NBC has so far centred around a single sit-down interview with Mike Tirico, split into four segments under the title “MJ: Insights to Excellence.”

In total, those segments add up to about 16 minutes, but only one of them, just over four minutes long, has aired in 2026.

In contrast, Jordan has spoken live with Fox reporter Jamie Little several times in the past two NASCAR race weekends, as 23XI Racing won both the Daytona 500 and the Atlanta race.

His total interview time during those events has reached roughly four minutes and 45 seconds, already surpassing his NBC appearances this year.

Fox has also run additional features on Jordan’s role in the sport following Tyler Reddick’s victories, with cameras regularly catching him on pit road before and after races.

NASCAR ownership role drives increased visibility

As a co-founder of 23XI Racing, Jordan has taken a hands-on role during race weekends, especially as the team has started the season strongly. Reddick’s consecutive wins have kept the organization in the spotlight.

His ownership role naturally puts him in front of the cameras for race-day interviews and post-race reactions, a sharp contrast to the more limited, curated role he’s played in NBC’s NBA coverage.

The difference highlights how Jordan’s current media presence is being driven more by his involvement in motorsport than by his basketball connections.

And as long as 23XI Racing stays in the mix, his appearances on Fox’s NASCAR broadcasts are likely to continue.
