Celtic remain hopeful of enjoying another trophy-laden campaign and one player who will be especially eager to play a major part in the remainder of the season is talented youngster Michael Johnston.

The 18-year-old, who is usually deployed on the left flank but is also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, has produced some excellent performances for Celtic’s development sides and this season has scored three goals and provided two assists in the UEFA Youth League.

Quick and skillful, Johnston made his Celtic first-team debut towards the end of last season and this campaign has become increasingly involved for Brendan Rodgers’ side, featuring twice in the Scottish Premiership and making the bench for the goalless draw against rivals Rangers recently

Johnston will be determined to gain further experience as the campaign progresses, and the expectation is that he will soon be able to step up and make an impact for Celtic.

Rodgers clearly has much faith in Johnston and it will be intriguing to see how the prospect develops. It seems likely that he could receive several further runouts as a substitute and he will certainly be determined to seize his chance if given the opportunity to impress from the outset.
