Cardiff City Under-21 assistant manager Michael Johnson speaks highly of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli and Derby County youngster Will Hughes.

Cardiff City Under-21 assistant manager Michael Johnson has been singing the praises of Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli and Derby County’s Will Hughes on social networking site Twitter.

Johnson, who played for Derby as a defender from 2003 until 2008, has refused to say who has more potential.

Alli is arguably the best teenage footballer in the Premier League at the moment and has been playing well this season.

The 19-year-old midfielder has scored four goals and created 16 chances in 14 Premier League appearances so far this campaign.

The England international has a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 62%, and has won nine headers, 11 dribbles and 25 tackles.

Hughes has been at Derby his entire professional career and is rated as one of the most promising young midfielders in the Championship.

The 20-year-old scored two goals and created 46 chances in 42 Championship appearances for the Rams last season.

The England Under-21 international, though, has been able to play just once in the league so far this campaign due to a long-term knee injury he suffered back in August.
