Sheffield Wednesday are doing well in the Championship this season.

Former Birmingham City and Derby County defender Michael Johnson has stated on social networking site Twitter that he has been impressed with Sheffield Wednesday so far this season.

Johnson, who played for the Owls on loan from Derby in 2007, has also admitted that he did not expect Carlos Carvalhal’s side to do as well as they are doing at the moment.

Wednesday are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 46 points from 28 matches. The Owls currently occupy the final playoff spot and are level on points with seventh-placed Birmingham City.

Carvalhal’s side have played good football this season, with the likes of Gary Hooper, Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri doing well.

Finishing in the top six of the Championship this season is very much a possibility now, but the Owls will face competition in the coming weeks.

Wednesday will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Shrewsbury Town away from home at the Greenhous Meadow in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
