Nottingham Forest were beaten by 2-1 by Cardiff City last Friday evening.
Michael Gray has told Football on 5, which was broadcast on 22nd October, that Nottingham Forest should not have turned down Neil Warnock last summer.
Warnock was tipped to be in line to get the Forest job, but the Reds ultimately entrusted Philippe Montanier to take them forward.
Montanier has made a rather middling start at the City Ground, and Warnock showed Forest exactly what they are missing last Friday.
Warnock took his Cardiff City team to face Forest at the City Ground, and the Bluebirds picked up a 2-1 victory in the fixture.
Cardiff have now taken seven points out of nine, since Warnock took charge, to start moving up the Championship table.
And Gray has suggested that Forest would have enjoyed similar success, if they didn’t turn the former Crystal Palace boss down.
“100%, yeah,” Gray said, when asked whether Forest would now regret not appointing Warnock.
“He does the magic in the Championship and he’s done it for many, many years. Cardiff have got a real coup.”
After Cardiff’s win at the City Ground they are still currently behind Forest in the Championship standings, but they have closed the gap considerably.
The Welsh side are now level on points with Montanier’s men, with only goal difference separating the two teams.
