John Terry was at Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa last season.

Steve Bruce, manager of Aston Villa talks to the press during a press conference at the club's training ground at Bodymoor Heath on September 27, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Michael Gray suggested on The Jim White Show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (10:36am, October 2, 2018) that Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce still wants to sign Chelsea legend John Terry.

Terry spent the 2017-18 season at Villa after joining the Championship club on a free transfer in the summer of 2017.

In September, The Sun reported that Villa manager Bruce wants to sign the 37-year-old central defender for the 2018-19 campaign.

However, nothing has materialised yet, and the former Chelsea star remains a free agent.

Former Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers star Gray believes that Bruce still wants to do a deal for Terry.

Gray said on The Jim White Show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (10:36am, October 2, 2018): “I still believe he wants John Terry back at the club, but I think because of the accounts at the club, they just basically can’t afford him.”

Unlikely

Given that it is now October and Terry left Villa at the end of last season, it is hard to see any deal being struck..

After all, if the two sides could reach an agreement, then they would have done so by now.

While Terry will be a brilliant signing for Villa and will certainly enhance the Villans’ chances of winning promotion from the Championship, perhaps it is time for the former Premier League outfit to move on.
