Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after hearing Ibrahima Konate’s comments about his links with a move to Anfield.
It was thought that the RB Leipzig defender was close to finalising a move to Merseyside, with some outlets even going as far as to claim that he’s done a medical.
However, Konate is now denying that he’s had any contact with Liverpool in what is something of a twist in the tale.
“There are often rumours in football and many believe them immediately. I or my agents did not get a call from Liverpool,” Konate has said.
Of course, Konate could be keeping his cards close to his chest and choosing to mislead journalists, but we have to take his comments on face value and believe what he’s saying.
As you can imagine, Konate’s comments drew a reaction from the Liverpool fanbase who were seemingly ready to welcome him as a new signing this summer.
Whether or not the deal gets done remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the fanbase aren’t feeling too optimistic after seeing these comments.
