Ibrox side Rangers returning to the big time is a good thing, says Celtic man Michael Duffy.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Celtic youngster Michael Duffy has admitted that he is happy to see Rangers back in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers won promotion from the Scottish Championship this past season to seal their top-flight return following a four-year absence from the big time.
Given that they beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals, it has been suggested that Rangers may actually challenge the Hoops for the Premiership crown next term.
In their absence from the top flight, Celtic have flourished and Ronny Deila – who has since been replaced by Brendan Rodgers – led them to a fifth successive title last month.
It has perhaps been a bit too easy for Celtic, and Northern Irishman Duffy admits that Rangers being back can only be a good thing.
“Having Rangers back in the top flight is good for Scottish football, it makes the league better,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“It makes it more competitive and I think the league needs Rangers in the top division.”
The Gers certainly don’t appear to be resting on their laurels either, with manager Mark Warburton already sealing deals to bring ex-Liverpool man Jordan Rossiter and Joey Barton to Ibrox this summer.
It might well be the most exciting Premiership campaign for a while next term.
