Tottenham face Manchester United on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-final.

Michael Dawson of Hull City heads the ball out of the box during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Leeds United at the KCOM Stadium on January 30, 2018 in Hull, England.

Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Michael Dawson has told the FA’s official website that he fancies his old side to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.

Spurs face Jose Mourinho’s side in the last four of the competition on Saturday as they look to go one step closer of ending their run without a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

Pochettino’s side come into the game off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brighton on Tuesday night, though the Argentine manager did rest of a number of his first-team stars and that could boost the north Londoners come Saturday.

Dawson, who played for Spurs and was in the side when they last won a trophy in the form of the 2007-08 League Cup, claimed Tottenham are more than capable of beating United and winning the FA Cup.

“My Spurs head’s on – I’ve got to fancy them – but Man United are a top team with top players, and it’s a game I’m really looking forward to watching. It’s an FA Cup special and I’m hoping for a Spurs win, as you would well imagine,” Dawson said.

“The players are hungry and they’re certainly not a million miles away from adding trophies, and when one comes, I’m sure the shackles will come off and more will come.”

Spurs have no injury problems ahead of the semi-final, but Pochettino must solve a number of selection headaches ahead of the clash at Wembley.

Defender Toby Alderweireld returned to play 90 minutes on Tuesday, his first league appearance of 2018. But with Davinson Sanchez’s partnership with Jan Vertonghen preferred by Pochettino, the Belgian may miss out.

Similarly, the Spurs boss must also decide who to partner Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in attacking midfield, with Pochettino boasting options such as Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min.
