Michael Dawson has said on Sky Sports News (1:40pm, October 8, 2022) that he would take Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk over Arsenal centre-back William Saliba.
The former Tottenham Hotspur defender has said that although Saliba is a very good player who has done well for Arsenal so far this season, he would take Liverpool ace Van Dijk over him.
Dawson made the comments when asked who is better – Saliba or Van Dijk.
France international centre-back Saliba will start for Arsenal in the Premier League match against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Sunday.
Netherlands international centre-back Van Dijk will line up for Liverpool.

Dawson said: “I would take Virgil van Dijk all the time. Massive fan. Saliba has got a lot of work to get there. He is only young, he is only going to get better.”
Who’s better?
In our view, Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has been better than Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk so far this season.
However, Van Dijk is a better defender and has done it at the top level for a number of years now.
Yes, the Dutchman is struggling at the moment, but all footballers go through a bad spell.
Saliba is just starting his Premier League career, and just because he has done better in a few matches does not make him a better defender than Van Dijk.
