Michael Chandler has returned to the win column after a period of over three years.

Before this, his last victory came when he knocked out Tony Ferguson with a front kick at UFC 274 back in May 2022.

After that win, Chandler went on to lose against Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, and Paddy Pimblett.

The 39-year-old ended his win drought by going back to his wrestling roots for a Saturday night bout against a UFC legend at RAF03.

The first unscripted professional wrestling league, Real American Freestyle (RAF), held its third event in Chicago on November 29.

Chad Mendes, Chandler’s opponent, was the more established wrestler between the two during his collegiate days.

Even so, Chandler’s blend of power and speed helped him control the fight and secure a comfortable win.

The three-time Bellator champion won 4-1 before calling out Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs.

After his win, the 39-year-old said: “I’d like to say since 2009, there was a guy out there from the Midwest in the Big 12, who beat me a couple of times, that I haven’t been able to get him off my mind.

“Jordan Burroughs, this ain’t 2009! I’m bigger, I’m faster, I’m stronger, I’m more dangerous!

“Jump in the RAF ring with me, if you dare.”

What comes next for Michael Chandler?

The wait for Conor McGregor seems to have marked the start of Chandler’s downward spiral.

The two filmed The Ultimate Fighter together back in 2023 with plans to fight afterwards, but that bout still has not come together despite both men wanting it to happen.

Now they are both pushing for it to take place at UFC White House in June 2026. But nothing is set yet – Dana White is not expected to start working on that card until February.

Meanwhile, Chandler aims to remain active and maintain his wrestling proficiency while serving in the RAF.
