Leeds United are four games away from earning promotion to the Premier League.
Michael Brown has made it clear that Leeds United ‘need to improve’ in the final third following their 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday evening at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side recorded a valuable three points against their Yorkshire rivals in a nervy game which saw the home team create numerous chances but only score one goal.
Jack Harrison was the goalscorer in the second half, but like previous games gone by, Leeds could have and should have added more to their scoreline.
Speaking to EFL on Quest (13/04/2019 at 9:20 pm), Brown agreed with Bielsa’s comments about Leeds not having a prolific goalscorer this season and their struggles to put the goal in the back of the net on a regular basis.
“That just shows you, he [Bielsa] is right they have had to create [more] chances [because they don’t have that prolific striker],” Brown told EFL on QUEST. “It goes back to the game against Sheffield United, they had great opportunities in the first half and couldn’t put them away.
“Again [against Wednesday] only one goal. They need to improve on that. But it was a wonderful performance from them.”
Kemar Roofe and summer signing Patrick Bamford have led the line for Leeds this season, whilst Tyler Roberts can play in a forward role, he has been utilised in behind the striker.
There have been periods where both players have missed a number of games because of injury, which has been unfortunate for the promotion-chasing side, but fortunate in a way because they have not coincided at the same time.
At this moment in time, Bielsa’s side are sitting second in the Championship table, three points ahead of Sheffield United as they will now prepare for a Friday game against Wigan.
