Christian Eriksen came off the bench to score for Tottenham Hotspur during their comprehensive win in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
BBC Sport pundit Michael Brown has stated that he’s been told Christian Eriksen’s attitude and body language has been ‘excellent’ around Tottenham’s training ground.
This despite the Spurs playmaker getting a lot of stick from supporters and media alike because it has been well-documented that he wanted to leave the North London club in the summer.
Eriksen’s form has taken a hit this season and it hasn’t helped his cause that it’s come on the back of him making those comments from the summer.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (06/11/19 at 9:30 pm), former Spurs midfielder, Brown shared that there’s a completely different image being portrayed of Eriksen outside of the club.
“Christian Eriksen, we know he works hard,” Brown told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Wonderful stats last season, the highest, which surprised me of any other player and I don’t think you associate that with Eriksen. Is he hitting those targets this year? Is that why he’s not playing?
“After speaking to people last night, they said his attitude, his body language was excellent around the training ground. He’s going around and doing everything as normal, which was great to hear.
“There is so much criticism going his way that he doesn’t care, has he already packed his bags? Is he going somewhere else? The noises I’m getting are different. He’s totally doing the right thing. They said [within the club] he is first class.”
Eriksen came off the bench on Wednesday night as Spurs thrashed Red Star Belgrade 4-0 away from home in the Champions League.
Giovani Lo Celso, who could seemingly be Eriksen’s long-term replacement, opened the scoring before Heung-Min Son netted a brace. That’s when Eriksen was introduced and he added more fun to the party by finding the back of the net.
Spurs will now turn their attention to Premier Leaguer matters and trying to see off Chris Wilder’s in-form Sheffield United.
