Michael Brown brings his Port Vale side to Elland Road to face his old club Leeds United in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Michael Brown has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (broadcast on 8th August 2017; 8:57am) that he feels that the cloud around his old club Leeds may have lifted and they could challenge for promotion this season.
Brown will be returning to familiar surroundings this week when he takes his Port Vale side to Elland Road to face the Whites in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The 40-year-old spent around three years on Leeds’ books in the latter stages of his playing career, often showcasing his fiery and combative style while a part of the side’s midfield. And he suggested that while he wants Vale to cause an upset when they meet this week, he expressed his delight at seeing the optimism surrounding the Championship club.
“I went to the game [against Bolton], I’ve got a lot of friends who are Leeds fans and they’re really excited now, hopefully the cloud’s lifted. I think it’s a fantastic football club,” he told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT.
“For us personally, it’ll be a great night for us to go and play at a fantastic stadium. I wish Leeds well after the game. Hopefully they can go on and get that promotion.”
While it was not the perfect performance from Leeds in their opening day victory over Bolton, there were certainly enough encouraging signs at the Macron Stadium for Thomas Christiansen and the fans to believe that they may have the potential to battle at the top end of the Championship table during the coming campaign.
But while Brown is hopeful that the Whites could finally end their wait for top flight football this season, he will also be hoping that his side hand them an early setback by knocking them out of the cup.
