Leeds United lost a crucial Championship encounter against their promotion rivals Sheffield United on Saturday.

Pundit Michael Brown has claimed that Billy Sharp ‘got the better’ of Pontus Jansson during Sheffield United’s 1-0 win over Leeds on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.
Striker Sharp played a huge part in the only goal of the game as his perfectly released pass led to Chris Basham scoring what is a crucial goal in the race for promotion.
Throughout the match, Sharp worked his socks off in the forward line and showcased his experience and qualities by trying to test the opposition at all times.
Speaking to EFL on Quest (16/03/2019 at 9:25 pm), Brown shared his thoughts on Jansson’s battle with Sheffield United’s frontman.
“Do you mean the actual head to head because there was a clash of heads,” Brown told Quest. “From that moment on, I think Billy Sharp took on the game.
“Pontus Jansson lost his concentration, went to go tight with Billy at times and Billy got the better of him certainly on the day. He set up the goal with a beautifully weighted pass.”

Sharp wasn’t just involved in the goal. In stoppage time, Kiko Casilla rushed out of his penalty area only to bring down the former Elland Road man, with referee David Coote showing him a straight red.
At that time, Leeds had made all their substitutions and a battered and bruised, Jansson stepped up, took the gloves and went in between the sticks.
Chris Wilder’s side hung on during those dramatic moments to claim a valuable win against their promotion rivals which could have a big bearing on who finishes in the top two.
The Blades are now sitting in second place, four points behind leaders Norwich City and one point ahead of the Whites with a better goal difference.
