Leeds United are heading for the playoffs following their draw at home to Aston Villa.
Michael Brown has claimed that there will be a number of clubs in this country wanting Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa to be their manager.
The talkSPORT pundit also urged Bielsa to give the Elland Road job ‘another go’ as speculation about his future at the end of the season intensifies.
Prior to Leeds 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, Bielsa told the Yorkshire Evening Post that now is not the time to discuss his future at the club.
Speaking to the Weekend Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (28/04/2019 at 8:40 am), former Leeds man, Brown spoke about Bielsa and where his future lies.
“I think there will be people in this country that would want him to be their manager,” Brown told TalkSport. “That’s the problem, they are so desperate for it [promotion]. The amount of support they get.
“They almost have to say look, ‘we haven’t made it, let’s start again and be as positive as we can’. But it’s quite a pressure place to play.
“But they need to keep him [Bielsa]. I know there’s a lot of talk about the budget and what the owner can put in. If it wasn’t to be, I think Marcelo Bielsa should give it another go and try and improve the squad.”
At this moment in time, Bielsa and his team will be focussing on earning promotion to the Premier League via the playoff places after they missed out on automatic promotion to Norwich City and Sheffield United.
Over the Easter period, the Whites lost back-to-back matches against Wigan and Brentford, respectively, which all but ended their hopes of finishing in the top two.
Now, they will have to take the road to England’s top-flight via the dreaded and extremely tough route of the playoffs with a number of big clubs chasing promotion.
