Sky Sports pundit Michael Brown has claimed that Leeds will now be ‘really tough to stop’ in their Championship run-in as they bid to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Brown also singled out striker Patrick Bamford for being a ‘good addition’ following the injury to fellow forward Kemar Roofe, which could have easily derailed their season.

Over the weekend, Bamford netted the only goal of the game as Marcelo Bielsa’s side netted a valuable three points away at play-off chasers Bristol City.

Speaking to EFL Championship Goals on Sky Sports Football (09/03/2019 at 8:15 pm), Brown shared his thoughts on his former club and their response since losing at QPR.

“That’s a good addition for them [Bamford’s form after Roofe’s injury],” Brown told EFL Championship Goals. “You are looking where could do they strengthen going into the running? But now they are looking good.

“I think the West Brom game has given them a big lift. To lose to QPR away, but the manner in which they beat West Brom. The place was rocking and that has given them huge confidence. You can look at the supporters, ‘we are going up’.

“I think the belief is there. They really have got them back confident now. They will be really tough to stop.”

Leeds are sitting in the automatic places, two points behind leaders Norwich and two points ahead of third-placed Sheffield United. Both teams picked up maximum points in their previous league games.

But with the games coming thick and fast, there is sure to be some slip-ups and turning points somewhere. On Tuesday night, Bielsa and his players travel to Reading where three points could potentially see them claim top spot.

However, if they drop points then they could find themselves back in the play-off places as their home clash against Sheffield United next Saturday is set to be the biggest game of their season.

During the reverse fixture, the Whites claimed a narrow win and the Elland Road faithful will be well aware that three more points here could be the difference between finishing in the top-two or in the play-off spots.
