Leeds United sit top of the Championship table following their comfortable win at Stoke City over the weekend.
Michael Brown claims Leeds United duo Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski were ‘everywhere’ during their 3-0 win against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Both Dallas and Alioski were deployed as fullbacks against Stoke, but in truth, they played as wingers as both players netted on the day, alongside Patrick Bamford.
It was, in the end, an easy win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who dispatched a Stoke team tipped for promotion this term, but they now sit bottom of the table.
Speaking to EFL on Quest (24/08/2019 at 9:10 pm), former Whites midfielder Brown believes a player like Kalvin Phillips allows the likes of Alioski and Dallas to seemingly do what they want.
On Dallas and Alisoki: “They were everywhere,” Brown told Quest. “Having Phillips in that back three allows them to go wherever they want. They can go inside, go round the outside and that’s a brilliant run [by Dallas for his goal], it’s a late run to get in for a great finish.
On Leeds clean sheets: “We just had a look at their player, 21 years of age, on-loan from Brighton. To keep all these clean sheets, yes he’s got Berardi, not Cooper today who was injured and Phillips helping them along. Fantastic to see with the clean sheets they have got.”
Leeds and Stoke will meet once again on Tuesday evening, but this time in the EFL Cup, as both managers will no doubt make a number of changes.
Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah, who has impressed when given his chance, will more than likely start, as Bielsa’s side aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
