Former Leeds United striker Michael Bridges’ time at the club was wrecked by injuries.

Michael Bridges is one members of the Leeds United team of the early 2000s to look back with more regret than most.

Through no fault of his own, his time at the club was ruined by injuries, taking all momentum away from a promising career.

He scored 19 goals for the club in 1999/2000, but fitness problems prevented him from adding to this tally over the four seasons which followed.

Long since retired, Bridges posted a message on social media to let supporters know that he has finally been reunited with the boot he was wearing when he suffered his injury against Besiktas.

Bridges added that it was found in the back of an ambulance by a paramedic, although quite why it took so long for thes striker to be reunited with the boot remains a mystery.

The former Leeds ace went on to play for Hull City, Bolton, Sunderland and Bristol City among others, but was never able to hit the heights of his early days at Elland Road.

Quite how good Leeds could have been with a fully fit Bridges will remain a big ‘what if’?
