The Leeds United legend is a big fan of the towering Swede it seems.

Michael Bridges has told LUTV that he has been impressed by Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson since joining the club.

The Sweden international is a real fan favourite at Elland Road due to his no-nonsense attitude to defending and passionate interactions with supporters on and off the pitch.

Jansson originally joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Torino under Garry Monk, before agreeing a £3.6 million permanent move (The Express) to West Yorkshire last February.

Such was the 26-year-old’s impact last season, Southampton were willing to pay £10 million to get him off United last summer, according to The Sun.

The towering figure is not the perfect defender and this season in particular has been a tough one at times, but for the most part he’s a very talented centre-back and former Leeds star Bridges admits that he thinks he’s “absolutely tremendous”.

He told LUTV: “You’ve got to have that passion. Is it Jansson the centre-half? I think he’s an absolutely tremendous player, fantastic on the ball and I like seeing him.

“It’s about the passion and determination to wear this badge.”

Jansson and Liam Cooper were the Whites’ centre-back pairing earlier in the season when Thomas Christiansen’s side went 636 minutes without conceding a Championship goal.
