Leeds United are ninth in the Championship under Garry Monk.

Michael Bridges has suggested on Twitter that he is optimistic about Leeds United this season.

Garry Monk’s side sit ninth in the Championship and one point off the playoff places after 15 matches played.

Leeds had only won one of their first six Championship outings under the 38-year-old – who replaced Steve Evans in the summer – but Monk has steadied the ship in excellent fashion.

The Whites, who visit Norwich City on Saturday, have won eight of their last 11 matches and there seems to be genuine buzz about the team again following a tough few years.

Bridges spent five years at Leeds until 2004, and the 38-year-old says that United look “very good” under Monk and first-team coach James Beattie.

Few would be surprised to see Leeds take another step toward the top six by winning on Saturday.

The Yorkshire side beat Norwich on penalties as recently as last week in the League Cup, before the Canaries’ suffered a demoralising 5-0 defeat on the weekend.

Morale will be low among Alex Neil’s side, and Leeds certainly seem ruthless enough at the moment to capitalise on that.
