Jake Hastie has left Rangers on loan.

The Gers’ summer signing has signed for Rotherham United in League One for the 2019-20 campaign.

Hastie, who joined Rangers from Motherwell during the summer, hadn’t played a minute of Premiership football under Steven Gerrard this season.

And Michael Beale, on Gerrard’s coaching staff at Ibrox, has sent the young Scottish winger a good luck message.

Despite only joining Rangers, the writing had been on the wall for a few months.

It was clear that he’d have very little role to play under Gerrard this season and once the rumours about re-signing Ryan Kent – who plays in the same position – started, it was obvious that he’d be going.

Still, the 21-year-old has plenty of potential and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares in England.

Greg Docherty, his Rangers team-mate, had a year-long stint down South last season and returned a much better player and hopefully Hastie has a similar experience.
