Michael Beale has told Thursday’s press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – that Nicolas Raskin may be barred from making his Rangers debut this weekend at Ibrox, because he may not receive international clearance in time.
Raskin, 21, was announced as the club’s second signing of the January window on deadline day. He completed a move from Standard Liege for a reported fee of £1.75million. It comes after Raskin was forced to train with the kids at Liege.
The Belgium U21 man refused to accept a new deal and with his contract expiring in the summer, Liege ousted him from their first-team squad in order to push through a sale. On deadline day, Rangers finally completed his signing.
Raskin was in the stands at Tynecastle to watch his new side beat Hearts 3-0 away from home. It was expected that Raskin would play on Saturday, as the Gers play host to Ross County. But, Beale says he might not get clearance.

“Hopefully that will come through [clearance]. I know they’ve got a back log. So, hopefully a few nagging emails and they’ll push that to the front. He is an exciting one to have, we’ve got him forever – not just Saturday,” Beale said.

Rangers desperately needed another midfielder and they have got it in talent Raskin. A player renowned for his ability to dribble in the middle of the park. A little terrier that has been working under ex-Celtic manager Ronny Deila.
With Steven Davis out injured, John Lundstram on injections to play through the pain and Glen Kamara suffering a bit of a knock in recent weeks, Raskin is needed. But, come Saturday, he may be watching from the sidelines once again.
