Michael Ball suggests the only Everton managerial candidate who excites him

Diego Simeone, Marco Silva, Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche have been linked with the Everton managerial role.

Michael Ball has suggested in The Liverpool Echo that only Diego Simeone excites him in terms of becoming the new Everton manager.

Everton are on the lookout for a new permanent manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman.

David Unsworth is in charge of the Toffees’ first-team, while Sky Sports have reported that Watford have turned down the Merseyside outfit’s approach for Marco Silva.

Sky Sports have also claimed that former West Ham United and Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is no longer interested in the Everton managerial job.

According to Sky Bet, Burnley boss Sean Dyche is 6/1 for the Everton managerial role, while the odds of Wales national football team head coach Chris Coleman taking charge of the Toffees are 18/1.

Atletico Madrid head coach Simeone is also on Everton’s radar, according to Sky Sports.

Former Everton defender Ball has suggested that among the many managerial names linked with the Goodison Park outfit, only Simeone excites him.

Ball wrote in The Liverpool Echo: “Knowing how the chairman thinks, I know he’ll want someone who will engage with the crowd and though I’m not so sure Diego Simeone is realistic target, why not ask the question? Why not aim as high as possible?

“None of the names, Simeone apart, are really exciting me, I have to be honest, and you even have to worry that Everton could find it tough to convince some managers to leave their current roles. It’s a major headache.”
