Michael Ball explains why Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez and Manuel Pellegrini are not right for Everton.

Everton are on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of former West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce from Goodison Park.
According to Sky Sports, former Watford and Hull City boss Marco Silva is the Toffees’ first-choice for the vacant managerial role, and an announcement could reportedly be made as early as next week.
Former Everton defender Ball has stated that the Toffees are right not to have gone for Newcastle boss Benitez.
The former Rangers left-back has also explained why newly-appointed West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini would not have been a good fit at Everton.

Ball wrote in The Liverpool Echo about Benitez: “We want to be in Europe and he has done well in Europe, too. But he has been a successful Liverpool manager.
“He ticks all the boxes and I’m sure Evertonians would initially get behind him if he came. But as soon as a few bad results happened the negativity from the crowd would quickly follow and you can’t really take that chance – which is why Everton were right not to pursue him.”
“Pellegrini wasn’t for me, either,” added Ball in The Liverpool Echo about Pellegrini. “I know he did well at Man City but he also made a lot of mistakes, especially in the Champions League. I feel he didn’t get the best out of that squad which is the reason City let him go.”

Everton speculation
Benitez has actually been linked with Everton, with The Mirror reporting earlier this month that the Toffees – as well as West Ham and Leicester City – were monitoring the former Liverpool manager’s situation at Newcastle.
However, given his previous history with Liverpool, it is hard to see the Spaniard take charge of Everton.
