Everton have been linked with a move for PSV technical director Marcel Brands.

The Merseyside club have been linked with a move for the Dutchman, as pressure continues to intensify on current director of football Steve Walsh after a poor summer of recruitment.
The likes of Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Nikola Vlasic have all struggled to impress at Goodison Park despite hefty transfer fees, which could see Walsh replaced by Brands.

But Ball, who turned out for both Everton and PSV throughout his playing career, questioned why Brands would want to leave a Champions League, title-winning side for the Toffees.
“Brands will want to be a part of winning trophies and he’ll have a big decision to make and think to himself, “Why do I want to leave PSV who are winning trophies and playing Champions League football?” Ball said.
“At the end of the day, the long game is to reach the top. We know it’ll take a lot of money and a long time but that’s where we want to be competing.
“Hopefully Marcel will read into that and, if he joins, will bring in the players who have the right mentality and quality to seriously improve this football club.”

Brands has been credited with a large part of PSV’s recent success, with Eindhoven winning three of the last four Eredivisie titles including this season’s campaign.
He brought in the lies of Gini Wijnaldum and Hirving Lozano to the Phillips Stadium, being applauded for bringing in lesser-known stars before selling them on for big bucks to Europe’s heavyweights.
It remains to be seen if Brands will indeed move to Merseyside, with two years still to run on his contract at PSV.
