Leeds United were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City in League Cup action last night.
Leicester City boss Michael Appleton has suggested at his press conference, following his side’s victory over Leeds United in the League Cup, which was covered by the Foxes’ official website, that he feels Thomas Christiansen’s side will finish in the play offs this season.
Leeds have made an impressive start to the new campaign, and currently sit in fourth place in the Championship table.
The Whites managed to give Leicester a scare in the League Cup last night, despite making a number of changes to their starting line-up.
And Appleton was impressed by the performance of Leeds in the contest.
He said: “We thought Leeds would make quite a few changes. They’ve got a talented squad and they’re up near the top of the Championship for a reason.
“Leeds are up there for a reason. They’ll certainly finish in the top six in my view.”
Leeds actually took the lead against Leicester, when Pablo Hernandez found the back of the net with a belting strike, but the Yorkshire side were unable to hold on.
Leicester hit back after Felix Wiedwald made an error, and allowed Kelechi Iheanacho a chance to score, and the Foxes showed their Premier League class after that.
Islam Slimani put Appleton’s men into the lead, before Riyad Mahrez rounded off the scoring late on.
Leeds’ attentions will now return to their Championship campaign, with their next match coming against Sheffield United on Friday evening.
