Oxford United boss Michael Appleton is keen to sign Everton’s Conor McAleny.

Oxford United boss Michael Appelton has confirmed to the Banbury Cake that he has offered Everton midfielder Conor McAleny a contract.
Everton allowed McAleny to move on loan to Oxford last campaign, and his performances in League One impressed.
The youngster looked to be a stand out player in the third tier of English football, but he has not done enough to earn a new deal at Goodison Park.

Everton are expected to allow McAleny to leave Merseyside this summer, with his contract expiring.
And Appleton has confirmed that he has begun discussions with the forward.
“There’s an offer gone over to Conor and his representatives and we’ve given them until the end of this week to come back with an answer,” Appleton said.

“You can’t let things run and run.
“Ultimately you want players who want to play for the club.”
McAleny was once regarded as one of Everton’s most exciting prospects, but he has never quite made the grade.
Ronald Koeman now seems to have decided that it is best for the 24-year-old to move on.
McAleny made three appearances for Everton’s senior side in total.
