Micah Richards has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:28pm, December 22, 2022) that he feels sorry for Liverpool central defender Joe Gomez.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that Liverpool defender Gomez has a massive future ahead of him.
The former Manchester City defender has said that he feels sorry for the 25-year-old due to his injury problems and situation at Liverpool.
The £3.5 million (BBC Sport) defender is essentially a squad player at Liverpool now.
Gomez has made nine starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.
The Liverpool no. 2 has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League and has played twice in the Carabao Cup this campaign.
Micah Richards on Liverpool’s Joe Gomez
Richards said about Gomez: “This is one player that I feel sorry for. Before he got his injury, he was playing some of the best football of his life.
“He has sort of come back, he has been in and out, not really been consistent, but I still think he has got a massive future ahead, but he just needs to find some way that consistency.”

Anfield summer exit?
In our opinion, it would make sense for Joe Gomez to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
We do not see how Gomez is going to become a regular in the Liverpool first team when he has the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate to compete with.
Yes, Gomez signed a new contract with Liverpool in August 2022, but we believe that the 25-year-old needs to evaluate his future in the summer of 2023.
