Micah Richards has said on BBC Radio 5 Live that Manchester City will not pay £150 million for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Sky Sports have reported that Kane has told Tottenham again that he wants to leave this summer, and that Manchester United, City and Chelsea are interested in him.

The Telegraph has claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is looking for £150 million for the 27-year-old stroller.

TalkSport has reported that Kane’s preferred destination is City.

When asked if the Citizens will pay £150 million for Kane, former City right-back Richards said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “No, they won’t pay £150 million. £80 million, £90 million, they are not going to get him for that.

“They would be looking for youth, wouldn’t they? If they were going to spend £150 million, they would go for Haaland or Mbappe.”

Does Richards have a point?

Both yes and no.

Yes, Kane is 27 now and has had ankle injuries in recent seasons, but he is a ready-made world-class striker who would be able to go to City and make an immediate impact.

Remember, Sergio Aguero is leaving City. True, Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick against Newcastle United last week, but the Spaniard is a winger by trade and has only just started to play as a striker this season.

But £150 million is a lot of money to spend on a 27-year-old striker who has had injury problems.

City are a wealthy club, but they cannot throw money all the time.

It will be a balance between what to expect from Kane in the immediate future and for how many years he can be at the top of his game.
