Liverpool produced a superb performance on Sunday night, beating Leicester City 3-0 at Anfield despite a host of absences.
The Reds were without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah, with a game against a dangerous Leicester side something of a tricky proposition.
However, Liverpool ran out comfortable winners, with Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino finding the net after Jonny Evans’ own goal had put Liverpool in front.
With so many injuries, Curtis Jones was given a chance in midfield – and he turned in a strong performance as his development continues.
The 19-year-old has been tipped for a bright future at Anfield, and has already shown indications of becoming a star under Klopp.
On Sunday, Jones took his chance against a strong Leicester side, recording two key passes and one shot on target in an impressive display.
Six dispossessions weren’t ideal, but Jones did complete 66 passes before earning praise from pundit Micah Richards.
Richards, speaking on BBC Sports’ Match of the Day 2, suggested that Leicester gave Jones too much time and space, and he gained in confidence to turn in an ‘absolutely splendid’ display.
“Curtis Jones was absolutely splendid today, he was given too much time, he was getting confident,” said Richards.
