Micah Richards believes Ange Postecoglou will leave Celtic sooner or later amid links with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Richards has been speaking to the Daily Mail about Postecoglou’s outstanding work at Celtic.

Richards notes that it was ‘interesting’ to see Postecoglou linked with the Chelsea job just last week.

The former Manchester City defender admitted that he has spoken to Joe Hart about the Celtic boss.

Hart had nothing but great words to stay about Postecoglou, hailing his ‘character and outlook on life’.

Richards hailed Postecoglou for playing ‘brave football’ and being pretty much unflappable.

Richards also thinks it is now a ‘matter of time’ before a Premier League club moves to lure Postecoglou away from Celtic.

“It was interesting to see Ange Postecoglou linked with the Chelsea job,” said Richards. “I spoke to Joe Hart shortly after he joined Celtic in August 2021 and he raved about his new manager, particularly about his character and outlook on life.”

“He plays brave football and Joe said nothing flusters him. It is only a matter of time before a club here takes a plunge on him.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Ange Postecoglou

Celtic fans are used to seeing Postecoglou being linked away.

They went through the exact same thing with Brendan Rodgers up until his move to Leicester City in 2019.

Postecoglou seems very committed to the Celtic project but Tottenham may well try and dangle a move to London.

The Times’ reporter Gary Jacob claimed in March that Tottenham are interested in appointing Postecoglou.

The Telegraph also suggested that Postecoglou was likely to be on the Tottenham wish list to replace Antonio Conte.

Tottenham fans want to see bold, attacking football and that’s certainly what Postecoglou – hailed as ‘‘magnificent’ by Celtic hero John Hartson – provides.

The Australian is on the verge of a second successive title win as Celtic boss and his recruitment has been exceptional throughout.

One interesting note is that Tottenham have just landed Scott Munn as their new Chief Football Officer.

Munn will work alongside Daniel Levy and his appointment has left some wondering about Postecoglou.

Munn is not only Australian too, but has been a part of the City Football Group, heading up their work in China.

Postecoglou was also in the City Football Group with Yokohama F. Marinos, so he should be on Munn’s radar.

That connection could work for Tottenham as they seek a new boss – but Celtic will just be hoping they go in another direction.
